In the fourth quarter of 2020, basketball gaming apps saw impressive engagement in Latin America. The top-performing games, according to Sensor Tower data, included a mix of established favorites and new contenders, each showing unique trends in downloads and weekly active users.
Jump Dunk 3D by Voodoo launched at the beginning of December and saw a meteoric rise in both downloads and active users. Starting with 277K downloads in the last week of November, the game peaked at 556K downloads in the final week of December. Weekly active users followed a similar trajectory, skyrocketing from 202K to 947K in the same period.
On the other hand, NBA LIVE Mobile Basketball from Electronic Arts, an established name in the genre, maintained a strong presence throughout the quarter. Downloads hovered around the 30K-80K range weekly, with a slight peak of 44K in the last week of December. Active users remained above 400K each week, ending the year with 446K.
Basketball Stars™: Multiplayer by Miniclip.com also demonstrated consistent performance. Despite a dip in revenue in the final week, downloads and active users stayed relatively stable, with downloads in the 30K range and active users at 173K by the end of December.
Voodoo's Flip Dunk experienced fluctuation in downloads, peaking at 63K in early November before declining to 16K by the year's end. Active users saw a significant drop from 133K in early November to 53K in the final week of December.
DoubleTap Software LLC's Basketball Battle - Fun Hoops showed a mixed trend with downloads reaching 25K in the last week of December, while active users decreased slightly to 156K.
